I've made music since early childhood. There was classical and traditional American southern old time music in my family. I played classical piano for ten years starting when I was five. My mother taught me old time songs from her childhood in Virginia. I started playing banjo at age ten. Later I added fiddle and guitar. I maintain a limited performing and recording schedule as my journalism career allows.
